This was the 10th anniversary of the Bali boming and there was a special commemoration ceremony with many Australian dignitaries attending.
The Burns Unit at the RSUP Sanglah has prospered; is well used to this day we return twice a year to use this as a centre of our educational activities in Indonesia.
The October medical clinics at Sanglah and Smil House proceeded well. We were part of the receiving party at RSUP Sanglah Hospital for the Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon Ms Julia Gillard MP and the Leader of the Opposition, The Hon Mr Tony Abbott MP. We had the previous day conducted surgery in a teaching capacity with two Indonesian surgeons; we are hoping that one of the surgeons can visit Adelaide in the near future to continue his training.
We then travelled to Surabaya where we saw more patients and again conducted teaching surgery on two cases with local surgeons.
In Jakarta, the Yayasan Citre Baru and Dr Hilly's clinic were productive and busy. We were also fortunate to meet with the Australian Ambassador, Mr Greg Moriarty.
The medical team departed for Adelaide and I continued onto Singapore for day to consult with patients at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital
